Wilderness: 6 December '08 Driving up the narrow winding dirt road to get to Wild Farm Backpackers, was anything but boring! I was trying to not be distracted too much by the breathtaking views of the hills, the ocean, and Simone (tour photographer) who was rolling around the front of the van in fits of giggles. Wild Farm was amazing, Theo and Riaan (owners) were so accommodating, the vibe there is so relaxed and the accommodation was clean and respectful - as expected. The gig only started very late, and there was no lack of peeps to fill out their new entertainment area. An amazing venue, with a small stage, bar and wooden deck overlooking Wildnerness! We want to say thanks to the two 'dancing hippy girls' for dancing to every one of our songs (even the very slow ones!?!) and to Ivan for his poetic, positive vibe that left a lasting impression on all of us! And what a crazy party! Shot to Theo and Riaan for organising the lights and smoke machine *cough cough* wheeze* - it was all good - except while Pixie (Kirsten) and I were packing up after the gig - someone (I know who!) decided to be heavy handed on the smoke machine button and 'gassed' us - thoroughly - on stage - thankfully, there was a window at the back of the stage and i managed to grab poor little Pixie and hang her out the window for fresh air until the clouds of smoke dissappeared! In the late hours of the morning, Simone, Pixie and I found a grass area, still in earshot of the music, and spun fire under the stars! A great way to end the night!
All the Wild Farm guys worked hard to pull off a mighty fine party, right through the night they made sure their little outdoor pizza oven was put to good use for all those with munchies! We're really stoked to have raised enough money in this gig for the Wilderness Community Project children to go on a camp - a huge treat for them, and a pleasure for us!
