Knysna: 6 - 8 December '08

In July '08, we were in Knysna for the Knysna Oyster Festival and was the last time we were here at Woodmill Lane, carbo / caffeinne loading, gearing up for our gig at the Carnival Fields, for the last night of the festival... The Vontaines arrived that morning and joined us at the Mugg and Bean for a reunion brekkie!

It was 9am and already a scorcher of a day, we got to Woodmill Lane Shopping Centre pretty early, giving us ample time to set up, sound check and grab a quick coffee before the gig. The atmosphere was alive and buzzing, with tourists and locals browsing the boutiques, supporting the local artists at their stalls or just sitting around having breakfast in one of the many restaurants that surrounded our marquee in the middle.

Thank you to Gino's Restaurant supplied us with coffee, tea and bottled water!

We played for three hours on the Saturday morning and again on the Monday morning, both times the response from our colourful and mix cultured audience, was warm and friendly, we even had a random dude with long grey hair come up on stage while we were playing, and joined us with his 'air guitar' - quite a performance. (i've included a photo of him in the gallery!) A local artist approached us after our first gig and offered to paint us! He seemed so inspired by the colours of the marquee, the greenery and the beautiful artwork in the centre that was behind us, he promised to come and see us on the Monday to take a photo of us, from which he could begin his painting. True to his word, Monday morning, he was there, camera in hand, and has promised the painting to be finished within the next two months! Something we're all looking forward to receiving!
