Cintsa: 13 - 14 December '08 NIGHT I in CINTSA: Well, our drive to Cintsa was ALOT longer than expected!! It was the most beautiful drive i have ever been on. This part of the country, is so untouched, and the land has some sort of effect on me i still today cannot describe in words.
The roads were very slow and worth every minute that we ran late....we had to dodge alot of deadly potholes and slow down to (dodge and) wave to every group of children we saw along the way. There were rondavels (round houses) scattered sparsley across the hills, cattle along side the roads and i just take in all that i was seeing! We arrived at The Country Bumpkin restaurant in the 'nick' of time! *grin* After a long, hot day and drive to beautiful Cintsa, we, (us girls) had the least amount of time ...EVER....to get ourselves looking presentable for the performance! Sparing a shower for patient Nick (who i think has to sit through hearing all 3 of us girls winging 'what do i wear!?' every night :)...we managed NOT to have any noticeable marks on our bodies or tears or stains in our clothing, or have any look on our faces, that screams: 'i've been in the back of a campervan for too long'.
The Country Bumpkin was just such a fantastic night for us! Performing in aid to raise funds for The African Angels Project, we were welcomed and well looked after! They had the coolest christmas decorations up, they seemed European to me, but hey, what do i know about christmas decorations! The place had such a stunning atmosphere. .we all chilled out in the garden area and loved the surroundings as well as the delicious foods that were served! We ate from a well filling buffet and got into the groove of things with the tunes, to about 200+ coroporate diners. After the gig we set off to our accommodation for the night: Bucaneers Backpackers. . and totally stoked with where we could lay our heads for the night! This area, Cintsa, is probably in the top 5 of the most beautiful places i've been to, so far...the people are also so very chilled out and friendly - the residents AND the staff! Yeah we had a good time at Bucaneers, up in the pub.... around the campervan.....AND on the wooden balconies of our hillside tents!!! Hey, these tents are rad!! - double beds, bed side tables, electrical sockets and did i mention..... the wooden balcony with phenomenal views of untouched coastline?! :) We played our gig down at the pub near their swimming pool, and they sold chilli vodka for R10 - Well, this is a backpackers....nobody had anywhere to drive home to that night - everyone that was there, was there to stay.:) and...its for the children!!
What happens at Bucaneers - Stays at Bucaneers! Siya (staff from Bucaneers) had some water bomb throwing thing going on, in an attempt to raise funds for the project. While we were playing - someone was tied to a chair and attacked with water bombs at the cost of R5 a bomb! We couldn't participate, but as expected, Simone (our (party animal) photographer) was in on there fast! I found this pic, i see no water bombs and can only hope that not just her shouting at the dude! haha!
Anyway, it was a great gig, very cool people: These guys work hard and play hard and do alot for their community, it was an honour to raise awareness about this project YAY FOR AFRICAN ANGELS! and our photos (below!) |
