Since the beginning of her music career in 2003, Heather Waters has not stood still. Heather began performing her original compositions in music venues in and around Cape Town, South Africa. Performing alone, with her band or collaborating with other artists, Heather Waters always delivers a striking animated sincerity to her music!
Heather released her first 5-track EP in Cape Town in 2004 and went on to share her music with the British Public in 2004/5, visiting the UK and Ireland. In 2006 she returned to Cape Town, with bundles of new songs and an even more richly developed style and released her first full album ‘Lyrics in My Pocket, in March 2007.
2006/7 were busy years for Heather as she performed in the Western Cape at popular music venues and festivals such as the SABC Studios, Mercury Lounge, the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre, and the Barleycorn Folk Music Festival. Heather's original music featured in the sold out show, 'Like Honey' at the Obs Cafe Theatre. During this time, Heather entertained audiences in the UK, at music venues, day-festivals, and on radio during her regular short journeys, revisiting her birth country.
Lyrically it’s readily apparent that Waters doesn’t shy away from hard truths. Her expressive folk rock style is captured in songs like “Walk Alone” and her distinctive voice and well-developed song-writing is richly displayed in songs such as “Masquerade” and “The Money Came In Today”.
In 2008 and 2009 ABC Broadcasts (USA) voted Heather ‘Best Artist in Style (Folk), and her song ‘Masquerade’ – ‘Best Song in Style’ (Folk), with two of her songs receiving regular airplay in parts of USA and Europe. Heather also featured in the lineup of other festivals in South Africa, such as the Knysna Oyster Festival and Backpackers Festival, and continued performing at community events in and around the South Africa
Heather Waters’ unforgettable sound captivates both young and old; this was particularly evident during her Roadtrippin Tour in 2008, a project with her band involving a series of tours along the Garden Route from Cape Town to Durban in South Africa..
Heather and her band were warmly received by a colourful mix of ages, races and cultures, as they entertained their audiences while raising awareness and funds for various Community Projects en-route. Putting thousands of miles on the clock of their VW Campervan, they visited and performed at Backpackers Lodges, Live Music Venues, Festivals and Community Projects along the Eastern Coast of South Africa.
On vocals and rhythm guitar, Heather was supported by her Cape Town band, Nick Frost on drums and percussion, Kirsten ‘Pixie’ Snyman on violin, and Nick Kuiper on bass guitar.

2009 was a year of Endless Summer for Heather Waters, as she left her band in South Africa and headed across the oceans, to follow the sun, and seek fresh inspiration. She began the year in Majorca, near Spain, promoting her album and recent EP ‘Hope you are Happy’ to the warm and welcoming European audiences across the island, Heather, joined by a percussionist, performed Street Music in the Plaza’s of Palma de Mellorca, and also went on to entertain in pubs and restaurants from the south and north of the island. Heather continued to explore the coastline of the Mediterranean, visiting Menorca, and France, her melodic tunes and distinctive voice could even be heard echoing down the cobblestone streets from a restaurant in the Old Town of Porto Vacchio in Corsica.
